What is Head Lice?
Head lice are tiny six-legged, blood-sucking parasites. Each leg is equipped with a claw enabling the louse (single lice) to grasp onto the shaft of the hair. They range in size from 2mm to 4mm, approximately the size of and ant with a big butt. They can vary in color from grey, brown, black, red or clear depending on when they fed last. This makes them harder to see in the hair.
Lice are not environmental bugs. They are host specific and need blood to survive.
Once an egg hatches, they have a life expectancy of 30 days. Lice are wingless and can not jump or fly. However they can move at amazing speeds on the head. A female louse will produce approximately 300 eggs in her lifetime. Eggs/nits generally hatch in 8-10 days. A louse separated from its host will rarely live more than 24-48 hrs.

Head pet checks (lice checks)
Prior to our visit it will save time if hair is tangle free and product free.
All family members that live in the home should have a head pet check to look for lice or nits. This helps to make sure everyone is on the same page so as not to re-expose prolonging the treatment process. A clear head pet check can take as little as 10-15 minutes depending on volume of hair and how well you sit for the process.
Head pet checks: 25.00 per head...
If you end up having lice and need a treatment, then its 90.00 per hour with a one hour minimum.

Treatment
Should an infestation be detected, a treatment on average may take 30 minutes for short hair and 45-60 minutes for longer hair. This may vary due to the severity of the infestation, length and volume of the hair but most of all, how well you sit through the process.
Our pricing is based on the length of time it takes to check and treat all family members.
As part of our head lice removal process, we use a natural non-toxic product to help get through the hair. Next, we do a thorough comb-through with our lice and nit removing comb utilizing ' The Shepherd Method' Strand by strand.
We like to explain to parents our combing method and educate them on the lice cycle so they can utilize it themselves should they need to in the future.
Treatment: 90.00 per hour with a one hour minimum.
Plus the cost of a comb. (15.00)

Follow up/ Rechecks
Some very small nits may be too small to be combed out and get missed. A follow up/recheck is highly recommended so we can comb through again and get anything that was missed. This should be done 5-7 days following the first treatment.
After clearance on the followup, you should be cautious, as you were infected by someone you hang out around. It will be easy for you to get it back, so protect yourself.
Make combing part of your life style.
Follow ups/Rechecks: 90.00 per hour with a one hour minimum.
